According to Ambassador Bassam Rady, Official Spokesperson of the Presidency, the meeting focused on reviewing the progress of higher education and scientific research, particularly the implementation of establishing several new private, public, international, and technological universities across the country.
The Minister explained that three technological universities have been established and are operational in the current academic year 2019/2020: New Cairo Technological University, Delta Technological University, and Beni Suef Technological University. He emphasized that the successful establishment of these universities reflects the political leadership’s commitment and support, as well as the cooperation of civil society and public and private universities in ensuring the success of this initiative. The new technological universities accommodate students with technical certificates in essential fields needed for national development plans, such as new and renewable energy, textile manufacturing, electronics, and other technical specializations.
The Official Spokesperson added that the President directed the continuation of all new national projects in higher education according to the specified timelines and to the highest technical standards. He stressed the importance of providing all educational requirements, including academic buildings, research laboratories, and the necessary facilities for student activities, as part of the state’s strategy to invest in human capital.
The President also highlighted the importance of technological universities, noting the essential need for qualified technical education graduates capable of using modern technology according to labor market requirements. He emphasized the role of the new technological education pathway in changing societal perceptions of technical education, differentiating it from traditional university education, reducing pressure on conventional universities, aligning with current labor market needs, and adding value to Egypt’s human resources.
